Organic Coconut MCT Oil
Our Coconut King ® Organic MCT Oil is the first and only USDA, EU, JAS organic-certified MCT oil in the Philippines. Organic means there is no use of any additives or chemicals, such as methanol, in processing. Only physical processes were used in the production of our food-grade MCT oil. Beware of MCT oils in the market that undergo methanol processing, they are not food-grade but rather are more applicable for cosmetics. Ratio of caprylic acid (C8) : capric acid (C10) in the typical MCT oil is 60:40.
MCT Oil has been booming in the increasingly health-conscious world. MCT oil contains medium-chain triglycerides which are more easily digested than the long-chain triglycerides found in most foods, thus serving as a good source of quick/instant energy.
It is also used in the ketogenic diet where carbohydrates in the diet are kept to a minimum, and MCT oil is used to keep the body in a fat-burning state, helping reduce weight.
For diabetics who are not recommended to eat huge amounts of carbohydrates (take note this is converted into glucose which is the primary energy source of the brain), MCT oil can be converted into ketones in the liver, which can enter the brain to serve as alternative fuel for our neurons. The same way, in Alzheimer’s disease where our brain’s ability to use glucose is impaired, ketones from MCT oil can be used to provide alternative food for our brain cells. Preliminary scientific studies have shown MCT oil to be effective in improving mild to moderate symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease.
